Simpson County Board of Supervisors met for their regular scheduled meeting Thursday, March 16, 2017.
Each department presented their reports for approval.
Ben Warren, Road Manger asked for the approval for an easement for Debbie Jackson for removal of rip-rap from old chicken houses. The approval for road repair due to water coming into county road was given as well.
Tommy Joe Harvey, Chancery Clerk, reported maintenance of completed state aid projects and to schedule annual maintenance inspection as required by law on Tuesday, May 23 and Wednesday, March 24, 2017. Meet at chancery building at 8:30 am each day. Polk Meats, has completed the replacing of refrigeration equipment and are ready for the exemption on the Ad Valorem tax with the exception of school tax that has already been approved in a previous meeting. A request for a speed limit change on J Smith road to 35 miles per hour was approved.
V O Smith, Mayor of Collins, wants to discuss organizing a regional industrial park with several counties combined. The board agreed to attend the meeting and hear the options available to determine if this is something that would be beneficial for the county.
The board approved to adjust meetings for April and June due to holidays and conference. The 2nd meeting for April will be held Monday April 17, 2017 due to Good Friday Holiday, and the second meeting for June will be held June 12, 2017 due to Mississippi Association of Supervisors Annual Conference.
