The June 13, 2025 meeting of the Simpson County Board of Supervisors opened with a prayer led by Wayne Womack, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance. Chancery Clerk Tim Gray reported no new business.
Bryce Dupree, representing Electronic Credit Card Payment, presented a program highlighting the benefits and potential cost savings of implementing his company’s services for the county. After the discussion, the matter was tabled for further review.
Road Manager Jeremy Bolton reported the hiring of two new employees: Tyrone Weathersby as a full-time employee and Christopher Varnes as a part-time employee.
A motion was made and approved to transfer Asset #3537, a Dodge Journey, from the Board of Supervisors to the Road Department.
The Board approved a request to provide equipment for the “Touch a Truck” event during Magee’s Crazy Day, scheduled for October 25, 2025.
Rankin County has agreed to spray Simpson County’s bridges during the week of June 16. Once the work is completed, Rankin County will provide an inventory and invoice accordingly.
It was also noted that the state aid ride-along is scheduled for next week.
Board President Danny Craft addressed the public regarding the theft of county rock, stating that the issue has become a serious problem. He warned that anyone caught stealing rock from the county will be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law.
Sheriff Paul Mullins gave the forwarding report:
County Administrator Charlie Welch reported a large jump in the bid for county pest control. The supervisors instructed Welch to take bids for a new contract.
All items 1-16 passed
A motion concerning item 17 was made by Donny Welch to purchase a Half page ad in the Harper Vocational High School Alumni Reunion Souvenir Book.
The motion passed.
The meeting was adjourned to Executive Session.
