  • Authorize the August 2017 completed Claims Docket to be made part of the minutes and for the Board President to sign.
  • Approve the Financial Reports and Solid Waste Reports for the month of August 2017.
  • Approve the renewal of the County Health Insurance plan for county employees with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Mississippi with a 20% increase in cost due to high claims experience for 2017; the cost per employee will increase from $353.40 per month to $424.08 per month.
  • Approve the renewal of the Assurant Dental Plan for county employees with a $1.18 increase due to an increase in the plan coverage for orthodontics.
  • Approve the renewal of the property and liability insurance package with Travelers and Western World Insurance Co. in the amount of $230,696 which represents an increase from the prior year of $214,855. The second quotation from the Mississippi Association of Supervisors Insurance Trust (MASIT) was $245,116.
  • Approve the utility permit application of Shivers Water Assn. to bore under Shivers Road between 1361 and 1342 Shivers Road subject to the additional conditions recommended by the County Engineer, Buddy Wolverton.
  • Consider the request of the Town of Braxton for additional funding regarding the boring of a water line due to the bridge replacement. The original quotation was $9,975 on May 15, 2015, but the work was never done; now the cost would be as high as $16,700 in addition to the repair cost already incurred of approximately $3,000. The Town of Braxton requests that funds allocated for repaving their park walking trail for 2017 and possibly that funding proposed for 2018.
  • Approve the letter of certification of completion of the Simpson County Adult Detention Facility and Justice Complex to the trustee, BancorpSouth Wealth Management, to transfer the remaining construction funds as required in the certificates of participation debt documents.
  • Approve advertising county resources in The Source publication in the amount of $550.00.
  • Approve renewal of the maintenance contract with HiComp, LLC for the IBM Power P720 for hardware and software for $3,040.01 for the period of October 5, 2017, through October 4, 2018.
  • Approve renewal of membership in the Mississippi and National Extension Association for Amanda Blakeney for $120.00.
  • Approve renewal of the annual maintenance contract for the recording equipment in the Circuit Courtroom with Infowar 2 for $900.00 for the period of October 1, 2017, through September 30, 2018.
  • Approve the payroll authorization for Marilyn K. Williams, part-time deputy circuit clerk upon the recommendation of Circuit Clerk, Steve Womack.
  • Approve applicable travel, meals, lodging, registration and mileage expenses for:
  1. Rhuel Dickerson, County Administrator, to attend the Mississippi Crime Stoppers Conference in Biloxi on October 10-13, 2017. Central Mississippi Crime Stoppers pays for the registration, hotel, and most meal expenses.
  2. Supervisors and staff to attend the Mississippi Association of Supervisors Fall Education Conference on October 17-19 2017, in Vicksburg, MS.
  3. Rhuel Dickerson, County Administrator, to attend the Office of the State Auditor fall continuing educational program on October 25-26, 2017, in Pearl, MS.
  • Acknowledge and record in the board minutes:
  1. D’Lo Water Park Daily Recap report for August 2017.
  2. Simpson County Park Commission monthly financial statements report for July 2017.
  3. Chancery Court explanation of court orders to adjust salaries in the Youth Court Budget for 2018 and 2019.
  4. Recent Mississippi Supreme Court Decision regarding the Open Meeting Act.
