HATTIESBURG, MS- The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks (MDWFP) invites you to be among the first to experience the newly renovated RV campsites at Paul B. Johnson State Park in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. With peaceful surroundings and the gorgeous views of Geiger Lake, this is the perfect spot for your next adventure.
Booking is now open, and guests can make reservations online for the campgrounds at https://reserve.mdwfp.com/
. The park will officially open for campers on June 25th, so mark your calendars and get ready to explore the great Mississippi Outdoors. Mississippi State Parks’ reservation system now allows guests to book a year in advance.
Paul B. Johnson has 67 fully renovated RV campsites, offering amenities such as:
- Full hookup with water, electricity, and sewer
- New grills and picnic tables
Other complete renovations at Paul B. Johnson include the repaving of forty-seven campsites, and a complete overhaul on two bathhouses.
In addition to overnight options, Paul B. Johnson features day-use amenities and activities for visitors of all ages to enjoy such as a splash pad, nature trails, disc golf, and two playgrounds. Entry fee to the park is $2.00 per person and children ages 5 and under get in free.
Located at the center of the park is Geiger Lake, a 225-acre freshwater lake. Geiger Lake offers plenty of opportunities such as fishing, boating, water skiing, and more. Visitors also can enjoy the sandy beach and swimming area, located behind the Visitor Center.
