The Simpson County Board of Supervisors convened for its regular meeting on Monday, December 1, 2025. Board President Danny Craft called the meeting to order, followed by prayer and the Pledge of Allegiance. Minutes from November 2025 were reviewed and approved.

Chancery Clerk Reports

Chancery Clerk Tim Gray presented three items, all receiving board approval:

  1. Payment of $2,160 to the Chancery Clerk for making copies of the Simpson County assessment rolls.

  2. Approval of 2025–2026 membership dues for the Mississippi Chancery Clerk Association in the amount of $1,500.

  3. Acknowledgment and recording of a Simpson County Public School 16th Section lease for Sherron Barnes, located at 930 James Boykin Barnett Road in Magee.

County Engineer & Road Department Updates

County Engineer Greg Bonds reported that roadwork on James Boykin Barnett Road is expected to begin in early spring, around March 1, 2026.

Road Manager Jeremy Bolton submitted the November Road Report, which was approved. Bolton also presented:

  • New hire: Russell Wildman as a CDL driver at $15.95 per hour.

  • Approval to employ David Welch, who will begin establishing a new work-order system linked to the GIS mapping technology currently used by the Road Department.

Both items received board approval.

Sheriff’s Office

Undersheriff Greg Reynolds presented a Summit Food invoice totaling $16,743 for the period of November 4–18, 2025.
The Board also approved Rondal McDaniel as a part-time deputy hire.

Tax Office Reports

Tax Assessor-Collector Jamie Brewer submitted the November 2025 Solid Waste Report, the monthly surrendered tag list, and updates to real and personal property rolls.
Brewer also announced the hiring of Jacob Ferguson as an appraiser, effective December 1, 2025.

Announcements & Additional Discussions

  • The County Road Department Feast is scheduled for December 18 at the County Barn.

  • Road 478 will remain one lane through December, with a full closure expected during the first week of January.

  • A brief update was given on Barnes Estate Drive, where three landowners have not yet signed the required paperwork related to road work. Supervisors planned to conduct an on-site viewing and discussion later in the day.

The Board then entered Executive Session.
