On November 5, 2025, Mendenhall Elementary School held its annual reading fair. The projects
completed were from either fictional or nonfictional books that the students chose to read. The
K-6th grade students were to complete the projects according to the guidelines set forth by the
Mississippi Department of Education. Students either worked alone, in a group of two or three,
or with the help of family members. The projects were judged in each specific division. The
judges for the reading fair were Cheryl Saffle, Betsy Sullivan, Aleta Sullivan, Judy Byrd, and
Cindy Sullivan. The staff at Mendenhall Elementary was extremely excited to have students
reading and preparing projects about good books. The next step for the first, second, and third
place winners is the Simpson County District Reading Fair to be held on February 5, 2026 at
Magee Elementary.

The winners are:

Kindergarten Fiction Family Division A
1st – Remington Smith
2nd – Naomi Lemus
