Simpson Academy has announced the hiring of Todd Mangum for the position of Head Coach.
Coach Mangum and part of his family visited Simpson Friday. Coach was meeting with the football team around 11:00 AM Friday, January 8, 2021. Wife Kim, daughter Natalie and grandson Carter met the SCA family. Son Will is a student at Ole Miss.
Both Todd and Kim have ties to Simpson and Smith County. Todd grew up in Mt Olive and Kim in Magee. Todd’s mother still lives in the Mt Olive area. Kim’s mother lives in Magee.
Coach Mangum began his teaching career at SCA fresh out of college! Now, he finds himself back among the Cougars.
“Effort plus attitude makes the team” (EAT) are the words Mangum has based his coaching career. Coach Mangum talked of the importance of developing his guys not only as good football players but as good men. Todd explained that football is only a small part of one’s life…who you become is with you forever.
