Shirley Fay Payne Weatherall
July 18, 1940 – July 15, 2023)

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023 at The Pentecostals of New Hebron, 525 Jones Street, New Hebron, Mississippi for Shirley Fay Payne Weatherall, 82, of New Hebron, who passed away on Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Hillcrest Nursing Home in Magee, Mississippi.

The interment will be at The New Hebron Pentecostal Church Cemetery in New Hebron, Mississippi. Rev. Shirlon Davis, Rev. Cliff Hilton, and Rev. Charles Fisher will officiate the services.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 18, 2023, at The Pentecostals of New Hebron.

Pallbearers will be Jordan Boyd, Joshua Hollingsworth, Ephrain Lane, Dylan Sherman, Case Weatherall, and Jackson Weatherall.

Shirley was born on July 18, 1940, in Attalla County, Mississippi.  To know her was to love her. She gave so much not only to her family but to anyone in need. She was so proud of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She proved it in the many pictures and memorabilia she had throughout her home. She was known as Mama Shirley, and that name fit her perfectly, because she was like everyone’s second mom.

She loved God, church, and her pastor. She was not able to attend, but she faithfully watched it online. She prayed for her husband and children continuously and she loved them with all her heart. She loved crossword puzzles and collecting antiques. She cherished her daily calls with her sister Rena, which consisted of who’s there? Who’s not there? Who’s called? Who hasn’t called? and we all know that was her way of keeping up with the family.

Spurgeon might have had the M. D. behind his name but we all knew who was truly the doctor in the family.

How special is it that her home going service is on her 83rd birthday because Shirley loved a good celebration.

She is preceded in death by her parents Walter Jackson and Anna Murl Fisher Payne; brothers, Harvey Morgan and Noel Leveritt; and sister, Katherine Rodden.

She is survived by her loving husband of forty-one years, James Spurgeon Weatherall, Jr.; three sons, Bobby Turner (Julie), Scott Weatherall, (Robin), Curtis Weatherall, (Heather); two daughters, Belinda Turner and Leslie Weatherall; two sisters, Rachel Davis (Louie) and Rena Sullivan (John); five grandchildren, Cassie Turner Lane, Ben Turner, Betsy Turner Hollingsworth (Josh), Jackson Weatherall, and Case Weatherall, fifteen great-grandchildren; and a host of other family members and friends.
