A federal lawsuit was filed against Simpson County Sheriff Donald O’Cain on December 19, 2017 in the United Stated Federal District Court accusing O’Cain of sexual harassment. The suit was filed by Nancy Floyd Smith, former dispatcher.
Smith worked for the Simpson County Sheriff’s Department from August of 2016 until April 2017.
According to O’Cain, “this is a false claim…completely bogus.” O’Cain explained that the accusation came to light about 6 months ago. A law firm from Jackson was hired to represent Smith. O’Cain stated that the firm found no validity to the charges and the case at that time was never pursued. Simpson County Board Attorney Danny Welch represents O’Cain.
Watson & Norris, PLLC represents Nancy Floyd Smith in the lawsuit.
