In Decatur, Friday, November 30th around 8:00 pm, a suspect led law enforcement on a short car chase that ended up in the county (Newton). The suspect ditched the car and fled on foot.
Another suspect was taken into custody at the scene.
Starting November 30th , a three-day man hunt ensued by the Decatur Police Department, Newton County Sheriff’s Department, East Central Police Department, MDOT Law Enforcement and Ms Game & Fish.
Sunday morning, December 2nd, around 11:00, the suspect was taken into custody in Decatur by DPD, NCSO and ECPD.
The suspect, Sean Patrick Sharp, was wanted by Ms. Bureau of Investigations , Simpson Co. Sheriff’s Department and Warren Co. Sheriff’s Department.
Sharp is in the Newton Co. Detention Center, awaiting transport by the US Marshall’s Service.
(On Wednesday, November 21, 2018, Sharp was pulled over for a routine traffic stop. Sharp had several outstanding charges and was placed handcuffed in the MHP vehicle. Sharp managed to steal the vehicle and has been on the run since November 21, 2018.)
