Shane Little was sworn in as the newest Chief of Police for the City of Magee during their regular scheduled board meeting Tuesday, June 8, 2022.

The City of Magee will host a firework show during July 4, 2022 at the Sportsplex in Magee. The show starts around dusk.

A retirement reception will be held Thursday, June 23, 2022 at the Magee Civic Center starting at 5:00 p.m. The reception is for David Dunn and Wanda Williams.

The mayor updated the board of improvements at McNair Springs. They are looking at estimates for a metal roof. Benches and bathroom have been power washed. Contact has been made with the cutting crew for improvements in the weed eating of the area.

Street lights have been reported out. Mayor Berry has contact Entergy with no help. Alderman Mark Grubbs is going to make contact and see if he can get the bulbs replaced.

A concerned citizen came before the board and questioned why their vehicle was towed from private property. The law ran the wrong tag and the incorrect vehicle was towed. The owners of the vehicle were charged a towing bill that they are arguing they do not owe. They met with Mayor Berry and according to them he stated “we will see you in court”. The citizens came before the board asking for help. The board referenced them to the police chief who will pull the logs and see what can be done.

Alderman Brown questioned why part-time employees had been put to work without the boards approval. The employees were presented to the board and the board approved for them to work. Brown wants to see a job description developed and duties of these workers.

Ashley Steele met before the board concerning the removal of the JetA fuel from the airport tank. she presented two proposals to the board. The board approved to go with the vendor that would not charge for the removal of the fuel if they would be given the fuel in exchange.

With not further business the meeting was adjourned.
