Cochran & Wicker Recommended McKittrick to President Trump

WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senators Thad Cochran (R-Miss.) and Roger Wicker (R-Miss.) today praised Senate confirmation of Daniel R. McKittrick of Etta to serve as U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Mississippi.

Cochran and Wicker recommended McKittrick for the position early last year, and President Trump nominated him in September. The U.S. Senate confirmed McKittrick’s nomination on Thursday by unanimous consent.

“The U.S. Marshals Service has significant law enforcement responsibilities. Danny McKittrick’s extensive experience will serve him well as a U.S. Marshal. His career reflects credit on the federal law enforcement and to our state,” Cochran said.

“Danny McKittrick is an exceptional public servant whose nomination has been met with widespread and enthusiastic support,” Wicker said. “He has a distinguished record of service to his country, and I am confident he will continue to serve the people of Mississippi well in this new role.”

McKittrick has 27 years of experience in the federal justice system, including almost 10 years as the Chief U.S. Probation Officer for the Northern District of Mississippi. He joined the Probation Service in 1991 after 12 years with the Mississippi Department of Corrections. He also previously worked with the Mississippi Department of Youth Services. McKittrick has a Bachelor of Science in Sociology with a minor in Corrections from Mississippi College.

As the U.S. Marshal for the Northern District of Mississippi, McKittrick will lead U.S. Marshals Service activities, including federal judiciary protection, federal fugitive apprehension, seized asset management, federal prisoner housing and transportation, and Witness Security Program operation.

The district is comprised of 37 North Mississippi counties: Alcorn, Attala, Benton, Bolivar, Calhoun, Carroll, Chickasaw, Choctaw, Clay, Coahoma, DeSoto, Grenada, Humphreys, Itawamba, Lafayette, Lee, Leflore, Lowndes, Marshall, Monroe, Montgomery, Oktibbeha, Panola, Pontotoc, Prentiss, Quitman, Sunflower, Tallahatchie, Tate, Tippah, Tishomingo, Tunica, Union, Washington, Webster, Winston and Yalobusha.
