During the museum visit, community affairs coordinator Donna Brown gave a historical overview of the treatment of mental illness in the state, centering on the critical role played by the Mississippi State Hospital. Students saw many exhibits such as the original hydrotherapy rooms, needle spray showers and a fever box. They also learned methods about modern-day approaches for treating mental illness.

Careers in nursing and other areas of service were shared with students interested in this field of study.
