Simpson County Academy releases names of the top three (3) students for the Class of 2020. Valedictorian is Emily Davis. Salutatorian is Mason Kennedy and Historian is Brianna Rayborn.
Valedictorian is Emily Davis. Emily Davis is the daughter of Kevin and Stacey Davis and the late Annette Davis of Braxton. Emily is a senior at Simpson Academy where she will graduate as Valedictorian. While attending SCA, Emily has participated as part of the Dance Team and then went on to be Klauz the Cougar. She has also been a part of God’s Girls, Students Against Destructive Decisions, Future Business Leaders of America, Mu Alpha Theta, National Honors Society, and the SCA Quiz-bowl Team. This year, she was also voted Girl Most Likely to Succeed for Who’s Who. Emily has worked very hard over the years to sustain a 4.0 GPA, and also was able to score a 34 on her ACT. Emily attends New Zion Baptist Church, and she is very active with her youth group. She also enjoys being with friends and family. Emily is very excited to attend William Carey University in the fall, and she plans to major in Marketing and Management.
Salutatorian is Mason Kennedy. Mason is the son of Brian and Faith Kennedy and has three brothers: Dylan (wife Hayden), Benjamin, and John Caden. He attends First Baptist Church of Magee and is involved in the youth group there. Mason is a part of the Varsity Football and Baseball teams, the National Honor Society, FBLA, and FCA at Simpson. Mason is also the Student Body President and Salutatorian of the Class of 2020. Some of Mason’s achievements include: ACT 25 and Above Club, HOBY Representative, Future Leaders of Simpson County, and the Mayor’s Youth Council. He enjoys watching sports and spending time at home with his brothers. Mason’s future plans are to attend Mississippi College and major in Biology-Medical Sciences. He later hopes to attend medical school and become an oncologist.
Historian is Brianna Rayborn. Brianna is the daughter of Josh and Jessica Maddox. She has two brothers, Branson and Brady. Brianna is an active member of Dry Creek Baptist Church. She has attended Simpson County Academy for 8 years, and is a member of the MAIS Honor Society, ACT 25 and Above Club, and Mu Alpha Theta. She has maintained a 4.0 GPA. Brianna has danced on the SCA dance team for 4 years, and has been dancing for Donna Buckly Studio for 8 years. Brianna is also dual enrolled at Copiah Lincoln Community College, where she is a member of the PTK Honor Society. After graduating SCA, Brianna will attend Copiah Lincoln Community College to pursue a career in nursing.
