The Simpson Academy (Mendenhall, MS) varsity football team lost Friday’s home conference game against Madison-Ridgeland Academy (Madison, MS) by a score of 35-12.

Simpson Academy Falls to MRA in Tough Friday Matchup

The Simpson Academy Cougars faced powerhouse Madison-Ridgeland Academy—and it was all Patriots from start to finish.

MRA came into the matchup riding an eight-game winning streak, and they showed exactly why they’re one of the top-ranked teams in the state. The Patriots took control early and never looked back, taking a 35-12 win over the Cougars.

For Simpson Academy, it’s been a challenging stretch. The Cougars have dropped five of their last six games, bringing their overall record to 3-7 for the season. But as every Cougar fan knows—this team doesn’t quit. The heart, effort, and determination these players show week after week make the Simpson family proud, win or lose.

MRA improved to 9-1 on the season and remains one of Mississippi’s toughest squads according to the MaxPreps state rankings.

For now, both teams have wrapped up their regular schedules—but for Simpson Academy, the work continues as coaches and players look ahead

The loss dropped Simpson Academy to 3-6 on the year, while Madison-Ridgeland Academy improved to 8-1.
