I received an email early this morning from Christian Carrico.  Christian has volunteered  with MageeNews for several years now…he was our first ever sports announcer when we began live stream many years ago.  In addition to live streaming, Christian began writing the football article each week for the Simpson Cougars.  I already had much respect for Christian as an announcer.  When he began the writing, I realized how truly talented and smart Christian was/is.

His email informed me this would be the last football article he would send!  Christian’s daughter graduates this year…and he and Dana will probably spend some weekends @ Ole Miss.

Happy 14th Birthday to Larkin!!!

Happy 14th Birthday to Larkin!!!

April 8, 2026

We very seldom talk “one on one.”  We see each other occasionally…but I always knew no matter what crazy idea I had, Christian was on board.  He has been so supportive of me and MageeNews.

The email made me sad…. another goodbye to an era I have enjoyed.  Now, he may think he is out of my clutches…but he isn’t.  I just intend to call on him forever with other projects!

Thank you Christian…. for your dedication to SCA, the players, the families, the faculty…you have made history with your articles!  The young guys you wrote about will forever read your words.  Thank you for taking me on your journey.

Enjoy your rest…I’ll be back begging soon, I imagine.

Most of all, I thank you for being my friend.
