Seth Russell did not allow a single run as Magee Trojans Varsity defeated Florence 1-0 Tuesday, February 27, 2018 at home. Russell allowed only seven hits in the game.

The night belonged to the pitchers. Pitching was strong for Magee and Florence. Russell struck out nine players and Ladner, pitcher for Florence, sat down twelve.

One bright spot for Florence was a single by Braydon Muse in the first inning.

Russell was a powerhouse on the hill for the Trojans. Russell surrendered zero runs on seven hits over seven innings, striking out nine and walking zero.

Russell also led Magee with two hits in three at bats.

Ladner for Florence went five and two-thirds innings, allowing zero runs on three hits, striking out 11 and walking one. Kade May threw on-third of an inning in relief.

Other players with hits were: Jaden Chatman, Caleb Brown, and Aimon Chisholm. Trojans are still working some kinks out but they played well. Trojans are starting out slower than Coach Eubanks wanted but maybe that’s a sign they will finish strong. Trojans have plenty of depth this season in positions so they will have a lot of different combinations in the line-ups and should stay fresh throughout the year.

At the end of regulation Magee won by a score of 1-0. The win came with bases loaded and Chandler Pittman who would have the walk off hit to give Magee the win 1-0.

Trojans played at Pelahatchie on Monday, February 26, 2018 and loss by a score of 7-6. Pelahatchie scored 5 runs on two costly errors. TJ Hobbs had an outstanding night pitching with 10 strikeouts. Adam May came in to keep them from scoring to give Magee a chance but the Trojans could not get a clutch hit. Magee had some hits just not when needed for them. Hits for the night: Aimon Chisholm, Jaden Chatman, Chandler Pittman, Landon Hayes, Caleb Brown, and Timon Kennedy.

JV won their first game of the season 5-4. The young Trojans have a talented young group. Coach Eubanks tries to use JV to get some guys some extra work and he think that Zack Teater and Javo Thurman pitched well in their outings. Coach Eubanks has to get them ready to help in varsity games soon. Treston Kemp gets the win pitching. Offensively we had 7 hits. Those hitters were: Brennon McNair, TJ Hobbs, Landon Hayes, Cayden Bridges, Zack Teater, and Thomas Smith.
