Robert (Bob) Thomas Sims, 79 of Taylorsville, MS passed away Thursday, August 28, 2025 at the Merit Health Wesley Hospital in Hattiesburg, MS. He was born Friday, May 17, 1946 in Laurel, Mississippi.
A graveside visitation will be held on Sunday, August 31, 2025 from 1:30 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. at Fellowship Cemetery. The graveside service will follow at 2:00 P.M. in Fellowship Cemetery. Bro. James Hendry will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Taylorsville is in charge of arrangements. 601-785-6564
Mr. Sims was an Army veteran and a medic in Vietnam, for which he was awarded the Bronze Star. He enjoyed joking around with everyone and served in the Smith County Sheriff’s Department and Taylorsville Police for over 20 years. He loved to fellowship with friends, make homemade fudge, and he also loved old cars.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Alice Dahlquist Sims; brothers, Charlie Jo Sims and John Sims; sisters, Carolyn (Bunny) Carmen and Dorothy Landrum.
Survivors include his wife, Sandra Sims; daughters, Shauna Galbraith (Shawn) and Jennifer Hawkins (Bob); grandchildren, Luke Hawkins and Sims Hawkins; brother, Clarence Sims, Jr.; sister, Linda Nix (Stanley); great- grandchild, Greyson Hawkins; and a host of nieces and nephews and family members.
Pallbearers will be Shawn Galbraith, Bob Hawkins, Luke Hawkins, Sims Hawkins, Wayne Thompson and Robert Garner.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Charlie Crumpton, Marty Patterson, Teddy Walley, and Jimmy Phillips.
