Simpson county Board of Supervisors met Monday, November 4, 2018 for their regular schedule meeting.
Road Manager, Ben Warren, asked the board for approval to give his foremen raises. Warren would like to increase pay by $1.00 for Foremen, .50 for Bushog Foreman, and $1.00 and $.50 for mechanics. Eliminating cost of contract for other projects would help to off set the cost of the raises. Approval was granted.
Tommy Joe Harvey, Chancery Clerk, requested a part of the minutes include an approval of a certificate of the Department of Revenue approving the real and personal roll of Simpson County for 2018.
Rhuel Dickerson, County Administrator, presented board authorizations as follows: Approve one day training for new Circuit Clerk Staff from Harris (delta) Computer Systems on location at the circuit clerk Office. Fees are $475 per day, plus rental car, fuel and per diem.
Approve holiday proclamations for Veterans Day (holiday November 12, 2018), Thanksgiving holiday November 22 & 23, 2018, Christmas holiday December 24 & 25, 2018, and New Year holiday December 31, 2018 and January 1, 2019.
Contracting was approved with the Ms State Department of Health for jail inspections every six months at a fee of $500 per inspection. Approval was given for renewal of membership dues in the International Association of Accessing Officers (IAAO) for Shay McNeil in the amount of $285.00
Approval was given to Schaub Family Flooring, lowest bid, to replace the carpet in the courtroom, deliberating room, stairwells, and election offices in the amount of $11,235.85.
Approval was granted for the renewal of dues in the Circuit Clerks’ Association in the amount of $1,000 for Steve Womack, Circuit clerk.
The board approved the application of the 2019 EMSOF Grant funds in the amount of $16,684.00.
The board approved to purchase jail prescriptions locally versus an out of state vendor.
Meeting was recessed into executive session to discuss personnel matters.
*** Meeting was continued on Tuesday, November 6, 2018 to approve Sheriff O’Cain’s request to transfer Deputy Greg Reynolds to interim Sheriff while Sheriff Donald O’Cain recovers from a medical condition. Upon Sheriff O’Cain’s signature, the process to move Reynolds to interim sheriff will began. A letter will be signed by O’Cain and a petition will be made to the Circuit Court for Reynolds to be named interim. Once officially appointed as interim, Reynolds has been given permission by the board to open new accounts for business operation.
No further business meeting was recessed until November 15, 2018.
