Amy and David Johnson sent me a picture of a blue agave plant in bloom in the Eastside Community. This type plant only blooms once when the cactus is between 20-30 years old and afterwards, it dies!
The shoot is easily 12 feet tall. The blooming process can last a month or two. Once the clusters bloom, they will be yellow and then turn red!
Turn just before Eastside Grocery and watch on the left (small lot).
Thanks so much to Amy and David for sharing this piece of knowledge and bringing the existence of the plant to our attention.
