Joyce Valentine Meadows Grubbs, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on Sunday, February 9, 2025, at her home in Brandon, MS, surrounded by her family. She was born on January 24, 1942, to Louie B. Valentine and Mittie Green Valentine In Taylorsville, MS.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2025, at Goodwater Baptist Church in Magee, MS, from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM. The service to celebrate her life will begin at 11:00 AM with Brother Huey Dedmon and Brother Jason Webb officiating. Interment will follow in Goodwater Cemetery.
Joyce graduated from Magee High School and Draughon’s Business College. She was employed by the State of Mississippi until her retirement. She spent the majority of her life in Magee, moving to Brandon in her later years with her husband, Billy. He was such a loving husband. He adored Joyce and took such good care of her. His kindness and love for her was evident in everything he did. There is one word that sums up Joyce Grubbs’ life: “Love.” She loved her Lord, Jesus Christ, and was a devoted member of Goodwater Baptist Church in Magee for many years, where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday school, and raised her family. She was a strong Christian wife and mother and doted on her entire family. Because of her love for children following her retirement, she worked with preschool children at a daycare for many years. She was most recently a member of Brandon Baptist Church, where she was very active in her ladies’ Sunday school class. She was well known for her spontaneous laugh and beautiful smile, which lit up each room she entered.
She is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Billy W. Grubbs; daughters, Sherri Brown (Mike), Kimberly Titus (Tommy) and Jill Thornton (Blake); son, Brad Meadows; stepsons, Mike Grubbs (Rhonda), Mark Grubbs (Suzanne), Gregg Grubbs (Liz), Wayne Grubbs (Lisa); stepdaughter, Gayla Luff (Lee),

son-in-law, Bobby Glen Hall along with numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Louie B. and Mittie Green Valentine of Taylorsville, MS; her brothers, Robert C. Valentine and Don Valentine; one sister, Pansy Valentine Mason; and stepdaughter, Kim Grubbs Hall.
When Joyce left this life into her eternal life, the words she heard were, “Well done, my good and faithful servant. Enter into your rest.”
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital https://www.stjude.org.
Arrangements are entrusted with Tutor Funeral Home of Magee.
