The Scriptural passage selected for today is found in Job 8:13-15: “Such is the destiny of all who forget God; so perishes the hope of the godless. What they trust in is fragile; what they rely on is a spider’s web. They lean on the web, but it gives way; they cling to it, but it does not hold.” What beautiful imagery is conjured by these words from the Book of Job. We know of the many earthly trials Job underwent, but his faith held. He would not curse or blame God for his losses and his own decline in health. He knew his faith lay in God, and he would be delivered in time. The unbeliever, unlike Job, is without hope, as though he were clinging to a spider’s flimsy web to save him. He has no safety net in which to be caught. For those of us like Job, we are assured of protection far beyond this mortal coil. Through salvation, we know and are assured time and time gain in God’s Word that we will spend eternity with Him, the angels, and all those who’ve gone before who put their trust in Him. Don’t be counted among those who are without hope beyond today. Put your trust in the Lord without delay! Tomorrow just might be too late. Amen!
