The Scriptural passage chosen for this morning is found in 1 Timothy 6:11-12: “Flee from all this, and pursue righteousness, godliness, faith, love, endurance, and gentleness. Fight the good fight of the faith. Take hold of the eternal life to which you were called when you made your good confession in the presence of many witnesses.” The Word of God for the people of God; thanks be to God! The early Christians are once again being addressed by one of the apostles, encouraging them to turn from their former lives of sin and to be mindful of their conversion experience. They are to pursue and practice the various tenants of the faith: love, godliness, faith, righteousness, endurance, and gentleness, among others, and remember the marvelous transformation which took place the moment they surrendered their lives to God. We today are to do no less. Let’s keep the faith, be strong, resolute, and stand firm.
