Paul Eugene Edmond, 81, of Mize, passed from this life Saturday December 31, 2016 at Asbury Hospice in Hattiesburg. Graveside services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, January 5, 2017 at Double Church Cemetery in Raleigh. Rev. Dianne Harms will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Magee is in charge of arrangements, (601)849-5031.
Paul’s military career in the United States Army spanned twenty years. During those years, he served stateside in Ft. Ord, California; Ft. Lewis, Washington; Ft. Eustis, Virginia; Ft. Benning, Georgia and Concord, California, Recruiting Station. Overseas assignments were Hakata, Japan; the Artic Circle; Rochefort, France; and Karachi, West Pakistan. After Paul retired as Sergeant First Class, he attended Jones County Junior College and the University of Mississippi, earning a Master of Education degree. He taught in the Smith County Schools of Mize and Raleigh for seven years. Most of Paul’s military assignments involved the movement of cargo and the receipt and transfer of military supplies. The last eight years of his career he was a career counselor and recruiter.
Mr. Edmond is survived by his wife, Mary Edmond of Mize; Daughters, Miriam Bowen (Johnathan) of Lena and Paula Brock (Mike) of Mize; Brother, Duane Edmond (Julene) of Salem, Oregon; Grandchildren, Logan Brock, Charlie Brock, Kyle Bowen; A host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Edmond is preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Ruby Edmond; sister, Donna Fuller.
