Paul Dwight Garner, 86, of Raleigh, Mississippi, died Thursday, October 1, 2020 in Raleigh, Mississippi. He was born Sunday, December 17, 1933 in Magee, Mississippi.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2020 from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Raleigh, Mississippi. Funeral Services will be held Sunday, October 4, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Raleigh and burial will follow in Pleasant Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Bro. Randy Ivy, Bro. Barry Warren and Bro. Donald Slider will officiate. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home of Raleigh is in charge of arrangements. (601) 782-4544.

Paul proudly served his country as an Airman First Class in the United States Air Force. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree from The University of Southern Mississippi, and taught history, mathematics, and coached basketball. Following his years of teaching, he entered the automotive industry and founded Paul Garner Motors where he worked until the time of his death.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John Paul and Cora Josephine Garner, brothers, M.C. Garner and Joe Lavan Garner, Sr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Mava Garner, daughters, Lana Blackwell, Lynne Buckner (Danny), grandchildren, Ashley Karel (Allen), Allison Landers (Scott), Aaron Dwight Buckner, great-grandchildren, Mary Daves, James Walton, and John Wilson Karel, Mason Griffith, Bryleigh Nicole and Jacob Paul Landers, sisters, Peggy Ivy (Bob), and Jane Garner, and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Aaron Buckner, Joe Garner Jr., John Garner, Ricky Ivy, Steve Pope, and Cleve Pope.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to Blair E. Batson Children’s Hospital or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

The family requests that all attendees wear masks and adhere to social distancing guidelines.
