Marion LeVera “Vera” Robinson, of Pinola, Mississippi, left this world to join her Lord on Wednesday, March 19, 2026.

Although she always preferred to be called by her given name, Marion, she was known and loved by everyone as Vera. She was born just after midnight on January 2, 1934, at home in Mize, Mississippi, to Charlie and Susan Victoria Dupree. She was the youngest of six children and lost her father to leukemia at the age of two. Her mother, lovingly known as to all as “Mama Sue,” raised her children alone with little formal education but with abundant love, laughter, and optimism. Vera often said she never realized how poor they were because her childhood was so full of joy.

That joy, optimism, and deep love for God followed Vera throughout her life. At fifteen, she mat a handsome seventeen year-old young man with a thick crown of raven-black wavy hair. She was instantly captivated – and he was equally taken by her beautiful red curls. Vera and Charlie were soon married, beginning a love story that lasted nearly seventy-five years.

Vera’s life was guided first by God, then by her family, and then by her many friends. She took great pride in her work at the bank, where she was especially known for helping people secure loans when others would not. She often said, ” They always pay me back,” and many thanked her years later for believing in them.

She and Charlie raised three sons; Charlie Kenneth, Howard Mitchell, and James Lewis “Buddy” Robinson. Vera was deeply involved in her community, serving on the church council, the Water Board, the School Board, and the Chamber of Commerce. She was a faithful member of the Eastern Star for decades and especially cherished ringing the church bells each Sunday morning.

Her favorite scripture was Hebrews 13:2

“Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares.”

Vera was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie; all of her brothers and sisters; and two grandchildren. She is survived by her three sons; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren, six great-great- grandchildren; and countless friends.

There was only one “Miss Vera.” Those who knew her were fortunate, and all who loved her will miss her deeply as she rejoices in reunion with God and her family.
