Papaw Can Do Anything!!

My two granddaughters have taken over the living room at my house as “their” room. They have posted signs warning their two brothers that “no boys allowed”, “any violators will be slapped!” etc., etc. These are usual things sisters, brothers, and cousins decide as they grow older. Hopefully, maturity will bring a changing attitude! As I was straightening up after one overnight visit, I noticed a list of guidelines that Abby and Blair had listed for their room. The usual were listed, “No fighting”, “No lying”, “Never ever waste pink Starbursts!” etc. But one rule touch me in a special way:

“If you break something, get Papaw! He can fix anything!”

Role models can be positive or negative.

Don’t put a lot of concern into what others think of you.

Oh, how special is the confidence that they have in Papaw!   I wonder how long it has been since we trusted anyone that completely. Was it long ago when we were pre-teens? Have we lost something special by becoming so cynical that we trust no one to be what they claim or to do as they promise? I have been disillusioned and disappointed many times by a lot of people, but I have never been disappointed in my Savior! Being an optimist is a gift from Jesus. As Christians, we have been shown a love that is incomprehensible to most of the world. As witnesses, the lost see our behavior and attitudes and form their opinion of this Jesus by us! What a responsibility!!

“For every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.” James 1:17
