The Ollie Mayhall BYW of the First Baptist Church of Magee participated in “Pack a Purse” for victims of hurricane Harvey. The group gathered forty-seven purses to be taken to Huston. Ladies from other churches as well as citizens of Magee participated in the mission project.
The BYW is a mission organization of First Baptist Church which concentrates on home missions. Although the group is involved with foreign missions the emphasis has always been on home missions. The meetings are open to anyone from any church. The next meeting is scheduled for October 9th at the home of Suzy Thames. The program will contain information on Samaritan’s Purse. During the month of November, the group will pack Shoe Boxes for distribution overseas.
Pictured with just a sampling of the collected purses: Dorothy Partridge, Suzy Thames, Susan Smith, Diane McPhail, Nona Lee, Linda Bennett, Sue Honea, and Jean Allen.
The BYW was established in 1973.
