By James Davis
The Scriptural passage selected for today is found in 1 Peter 3:15: “In your hearts, set apart Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reasons for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect.” The apostle is speaking to early Christians as to the special recognition Jesus should be given in their lives. He should first reside in the heart, and we should never be at a loss to explain why we believe and in whom we believe. If we’re asked, we should have a ready answer, but it should always be delivered in a spirit of love and respect and never in a boisterous or bragging tone. Our allegiance to Christ should be reflected in the way we live out our lives and the love we have for our fellow man. The British poet William Wordsworth wrote, “The best portion of a man life lies in his little, nameless acts of kindness and love.” How true!
Happy Thursday! Share the love and kindness of Jesus.
