Norman Ray Covington
Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Monday, April 6, 2015 at the Campbell’s Creek Baptist Church in Mendenhall for Norman Ray Covington, 66 of Braxton who passed away Saturday, April 4, 2015 at the University Medical Center in Jackson.
Reverend Greg Winningham, Reverend David Fedrick, and Reverend Phillip Mason will officiate at the services with interment to follow in the Campbell’s Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mendenhall will be in charge of the arrangements.
Pallbearers will be Aaron Fedrick, Bryan Fedrick, Michael Shane Chandler, Luther Daughdrill, Bob Boyte, and Doug Morrison. Honorary pallbearers will be Reverend David Fedrick, Hunter Worbington, Cody Kates, and Bruce Kates.
Mr. Covington, a Utica, Mississippi native, was retired from Filtro. He was also remembered as an excellent horse trainer. He had the gift of teaching children how to ride and to appreciate horses. Mr. Covington was a member of the Campbell’s Creek Baptist Church. He also served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Johnny and Leona Mae Sanders Covington; one brother, Percy Covington; and two infant triplet brothers.
Survivors include his wife of twenty-six years, Kae Kates Covington of Braxton; three sons, Reverend David Fedrick (Connie) of Grenada, Aaron Fedrick (Michelle) of Brandon, and Bryan Fedrick (Megan) of Clinton; one daughter, Hope Covington Worbington of Biloxi; one brother, Bobby Covington of Hodge, LA.; four sisters, Betty Covington Knott and Marvis Covington Morrison, both of Florence, Ruby Covington Booth of Jackson, and Lois Covington Alexander of Hodge, LA.; seven grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 6, 2015 from 9:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the Colonial Chapel Funeral Home in Mendenhall. Family and friends may sign an online guest book at www.colonialchapelmageemendenhall.com
