The Scriptural passage chosen for today is found in 1 John 4:12: “This is love: not that we loved God, but the He loved us and sent His Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins.” The early Christians were often reminded by the apostles that Jesus was the blood sacrifice given by God for the forgiveness of sins for all mankind. The BIBLE further tells us that “Without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sin.” So, dating back to the Old Testament, we know that the Israelites offered up animals which were sacrificed for the forgiveness of their sins. When Jesus came to earth, shed his blood by dying on the cross, blood sacrifices were no longer necessary. Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice for our sins. “No greater love hath any man than to lay down his life for a friend.” Jesus did that for us. How can we repay? By believing, repenting, trusting, and obeying Him. Do that now if you haven’t already. Amen!
