Under new business, Mr. & Mrs. Josh Walters met before the board requesting beer sales on Sunday.  The request was  to sale beer on Sunday from 1:00 PM until closing. A motion by Whitney Baker and seconded by Matthew Hickman allowed discussion.  Magee Citizen, Paul Arnold, approached board and discussed his concerns  against  Sunday beer sales.  After hearing from Mr. Arnold, the board voted in a 3-2 decision to approve Sunday beer sale. Both incumbent Alderman, Lane Steele & Patrick Brown,  expressed their reasoning for not voting for the Sunday sale.

A salary increase was voted in favor of Mancil Hobbs, public work employee,  for his 6 month time of service.

The first and third Tuesday of each month at  6:30 was approved by the new board as the meeting times for the next term.

All city department heads and employees must be approved for the next term.  All department heads were approved for continued employment in their perspective positions.

Department heads:  Lane Yearby – Interim City Clerk/ Court Clerk, Joe Worrell – Building Inspector, David Dunn – Parks and Recreation/Zoning, Charlie Valadie – Fire Marshall, Nelvus Rankin – General Superintendent, Tim Bray – Maintenance, and Randy Crawford – Chief of Police.

All city department employees were approved with the exception of police department.  Police matters were discussed in  Executive Session.

Eugene Knight was appointed as City Judge; Chris Purdum as City Prosecutor;  Bruce Smith as City Attorney; and Buddy Woolverton as City Engineer.

Whitney Baker was nominated by the Mayor as Mayor Pro Tempore.  The board approved.

Selected to serve on the budget committee was Patrick Brown, Whitney Baker, and Angel Brister.

Appointed to the Street Light Committee were Lane Steele and Matthew Hickman.

Election Commissioners selected were Daine McPhail, Bill Caughman, and Selestine Walker.

Zoning Committee members appointed by each alderman and mayor  were Sue Honea, Diane McPhail (Mayor), Brian Hubbard (Ward 1), Bill Caughman (Ward 2), James Peden (Ward 3), Arthur Milton (Ward 4), and James Ball (At Large).

Angel Brister was appointed to the South Central Sold Waste Authority Committee.

After all positions and employees were appointed, the board discussed the matter of an employee being allowed to take the 911 truck  to a personal residence.  The vehicle is often needed  during the night when storms brew to use technology to track location of storms that are a threat to the general area.  Following a 4-1 vote,  permission was granted.

With no further business, the  meeting recessed to executive session to discuss personnel matters.
