New Cybersecurity program to be offered at Co-Lin Natchez Campus

NATCHEZ – Copiah-Lincoln Community College’s Natchez Campus has announced the launch of a new Career and Technical program, Cybersecurity Technology, beginning in the Fall 2022 semester. The two-year program was formed in response to business and industry needs for more skilled computer technicians, specifically in the areas of information security. Registration for the program is open now.

“In today’s environment, businesses are calling for more and more qualified Cybersecurity technicians,” said Co-Lin Dean of Career, Technical and Workforce Education Brent Duguid. “We are proud to answer that call and offer such a program for Co-Lin students in the Natchez and entire Miss-Lou area. Businesses across the state and nation have endless opportunities for employment upon program completion.”

Cybersecurity students will learn to install, design, operate, manage, troubleshoot, and maintain hardware in a secure information technology infrastructure. Classes include wireless security and privacy, network defense and countermeasures, security testing and implementation, and Windows security. Graduates will be able to obtain employment as computer/network security technicians.

Employment of information security analysts is projected to grow 28 percent from 2016 to 2026, much faster than the average for all occupations (Bureau of Labor Statistics). Demand for information security analysts is expected to be very high, as these analysts will be needed to create innovative solutions to prevent hackers from stealing critical information.

For more information about the Co-Lin Natchez Cybersecurity program, contact Career-Tech & Academic Counselor Tiffany Woods at 601.446.1167 or tiffany.woods@colin.edu or call 601.442.9111.
