One of the highest honors has been awarded to Nell Hughes, Simpson County Soil and Water Conservation District (SWCD) Commissioner.
Mrs. Hughes was one of 10 leaders inducted into the National Association of Conservation Districts Southeast Region Hall of Fame during the 2018 Conservation Hall of Fame Luncheon in Williamsburg, VA on August 6, 2018.
The Hall of Fame recognized individuals from a nine-state, two-territory region who have made significant contributions to soil and water conservation to help ensure the proper management of our nation’s natural resources. Each state and territory may nominate one individual for the award each year.
Congratulations to Nell! She is the only female from Mississippi to be inducted!!!
