JACKSON, MS – The Mississippi Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks’ (MDWFP) Museum of Natural Science (MMNS) will host the “Permian Monsters: Life Before the Dinosaurs” exhibit from May 27, 2023 through December 31, 2023. Visitors will step back nearly 300 million years to a time when a whole host of bizarre-looking animals dominated life on land and sea and will learn about the greatest extinction the world has ever seen! “Permian Monsters” offers this glimpse back in time with an amazing collection of fossilized skeletons, scientifically accurate fleshed models, and works of the award-winning paleo-artist, Julius Csotonyi.
“We’re so excited for our visitors to meet giant insects, long-extinct sea creatures, and the first large carnivorous predators and browsing herbivores to conquer land!” said MMNS Director Charles Knight. Visitors will also find out what nearly killed them all to make way for Earth’s next rulers: The Dinosaurs!
