The Scriptural passage selected for today is found in Job 1:21: “Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised.” Poor Job! A man who was stripped of almost everything and reduced to his lowest point was able to speak these words with great clarity. He knew his status; yet, he never lost his faith in God. He knew the Source of all things and the transitory nature of the universe. He brought nothing into the world, and he knew he would take his leave with nothing. Still, he remained loyal to his Master and praised Him without fail. This passage always reminds me of my mother’s words: “I never saw a hearse pulling a U-Haul.” No, it is a fact that we will take nothing with us when we make our exit except what we’ve done for Christ, and we must never lose sight of it. Blessed be the name of the Lord!
Okay, as we go about our daily rounds and common tasks, let’s be mindful of the need to share and spread with others the love, joy, and kindness Christ shares with us. After all, and as we know, Jesus is the reason for the Season. Let’s show our appreciation. Happy Monday!
