MISSISSIPPI MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO ASSAULT WITH INTENT TO MURDER
Jackson, Miss –Ruben Cruz, 24, from Philadelphia, Mississippi, pled guilty today before Senior U.S. District Judge David C. Bramlette III to assault with the intent to commit murder and use of a firearm during a crime of violence, U.S. Attorney Gregory K. Davis announced.
Cruz admitted to his participation in the shooting of an individual in the Pearl River Community of the Choctaw Indian Reservation. The shooting occurred on June 1, 2014.
Cruz will be sentenced by Senior U.S. District Judge David C. Bramlette III on July 14, 2015 and faces a maximum penalty of thirty years in federal prison and a $500,000 fine.
