Our sweet loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, known as Grammy, quietly went to be with her Lord on May 8, 2023. She was born to Virgil Mangum and Bessie Bishop Mangum on May 31, 1929.
Mildred, known to some as Millie spent her childhood in Magee and graduated from Magee High School. She went on to CoLin Jr. College where she graduated with a degree in administration. During this time, she met the love of her life, Gene Kennedy to whom she was married for 70 years. They made their home in Jackson where she worked for Michael Baker Engineering Firm. She worked there for many enjoyable years before retiring in 1976.
After returning to Magee, Mildred experienced the love of many old and new friends through her bridge club, the Silvertones at First Baptist Church, Lakeview Assisted Living and the Golden Girls with whom she enjoyed volunteering and traveling. Mildred devoted time to her Lord through many acts of service at First Baptist Church. She was loving and devoted to her family and she will be greatly missed by them.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Kennedy McKinnie (Charlie); daughter-in-law, Ouida Kennedy; grandchildren, Allan McKinnie (Amanda), Scott McKinnie (Megan), Michael Kennedy (Carla), Andrew Kennedy; great-grandchildren, Addison McKinnie, Mason McKinnie, Anna Claire McKinnie and Jack McKinnie.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Bessie Mangum; husband, David Eugene Kennedy; son, David Eugene Kennedy, Jr. and sister, Helen Sullivan.
The family wishes to thank the wonderful nurses at Accent Care and amazing staff at Lakeview Assisted Living for their compassionate care given to our mother and Grammy.

I want to say I am so sorry for your loss. I had the privilege of working with Mildred at Michael Baker from 1973-1976. She was one of the sweetest people with the cutest personality I have ever known. May God give you peace at this time. Johnnie
