Motorcycle vs Car Claims Life of Picayune Man

Magee emergency officials were dispatched to a fatal motorcycle versus car accident on Highway 49 Friday afternoon just before 4:00 pm.

Magee police were the first to arrive at the scene, where Chief Randy Crawford, and Lt. Allen Martin, began CPR, attempting to resuscitate the motorcyclist.  AMR responded shortly after, and transported the victim to the local hospital, where despite all resuscitation measures, the victim was pronounced dead by Magee General Hospital medical staff.

Witnesses at the scene reported the motorcyclist was traveling north on Highway 49 when a Mercury sedan attempted to cross the north bound lane. Witnesses also reported that the motorcyclist struck the mercury sedan, although the motorcyclist attempted to avoid collision. According to officials, the driver of the sedan reported no serious injuries at the time of the accident.

The motorcyclist, a 47-year-old male, from Pearl River County, was a member of Bikers Against Child Abuse, B.A.B.C.  He was speculated to be traveling to Jackson for a motorcycle rally on Saturday, March 7th, 2015.

The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released due to the family being notified.
