JACKSON, Miss. —  First Lady Elee Reeves today announced her newest initiative – “Mississippi’s Fred the Turtle” activity book. First Lady Reeves announced the initiative during a kickoff event alongside The Casey Foundation, The Hope Institute, and the Mississippi Department of Education.

Authored by First Lady Elee Reeves and illustrated by Ashley Denson, the activity book’s objective is to incorporate engaging and thought-provoking conversation critical to child development and problem-solving skills.

Funded by a grant through The Casey Foundation, “Mississippi’s Fred the Turtle” activity books will initially be distributed to elementary schools in five school districts. The school districts include:

  • Claiborne County School District
  • Jefferson County School District
  • Kemper County School District
  • Natchez-Adams School District
  • South-Delta School District

“The success of Mississippi kids is crucial to the future success of our state,” said First Lady Elee Reeves. “That’s why I am excited for this opportunity to provide an additional resource that will further help our children develop the lifelong skills they need to become successful adults, while also teaching them about all the incredible places and people that make our state so special. I’d like to thank everyone who helped make today possible, especially The Casey Foundation for their generous donation.”
