The A-Class, 10U, Mississippi Elite 2026 (MSE 2026) fastpitch softball travel team completed its final year of 10U last week, while winning the USSSA Gulf Coast Summer National Tournament in Gulf Shores, AL.  This National Tournament win marked the team’s 12th first-place finish since beginning its season last September and officially concluded this season for MSE 2026.  Collectively this year, the team amassed 87 wins, 17 losses, and 3 ties.  Additionally, based on USSSA rules and points system, MSE 2026 finalized this remarkable year ranked #1 in the entire United States among all 10U teams playing USSSA.

The fall of 2018 witnessed MSE 2026 compete in 6 USSSA tournaments with 4 first-place finishes (Let’s get Going – Magee, MS; Fall Brawl – Brandon, MS; Fall State – Oxford, MS; Stars of the South – Brookhaven, MS), a second-place finish (Crossfire Classic – Gulfport, MS), and a fourth-place finish (Best of the Best – Brandon, MS).

In March 2019, MSE 2026 began an 11-tournament campaign, finishing with 8 first-place victories, where 6 of those were USSSA tournaments (Spring Warm Up – Brandon, MS; Traceway Challenge – Clinton, MS; 1 Day 2 Play – Magee, MS; Angels 4 Autism – Gulfport, MS; I-55 Shootout – Brookhaven, MS; Gulf Coast Nationals – Gulf Shores, AL).  The two additional tournament wins were FASA tournaments (Red Carpet Classic – Vicksburg, MS; Magnolia Classic – Hattiesburg, MS).  It is worth noting that the success at the Magnolia Classic tournament included the 10U MSE 2026 team playing up an age division in 12U, while overcoming older opponents, a larger ball, and a further pitching distance.  Additional USSSA tournaments this spring included:  Spring Opener – Livingston, LA (3rd place); Best of the Best – Brandon, MS (3rd place); Gulf South Championship – Daphne, AL (2nd place); MS State Tournament – Brandon, MS (2nd place); The Best of 4 States – Monroe, LA (rainout).

Mississippi Elite 2026 is officially based in Brookhaven; however, team members, positions, and residence include:  Zoe Alford (3B) Magnolia; Layla Burt (P, 1B) Brookhaven; Kylin Chisholm (P, OF) Magee; Mallory Duncan (OF) Magee; Annah Niceley (OF) Woolmarket; Lilly Overby (2B) Magee; Carlee Pounds (P, OF) Columbia; Ella Robertson (SS) Sumrall; Molly Sistrunk (C, 1B) Monticello; Ellyn Williams (C, OF) Summit.  MSE 2026 Head Coach is Duane Burt of Brookhaven, with Assistant Coaches Todd Pounds of Columbia and Andrew Alford of Magnolia.  Mississippi Elite 2026 will enjoy some well-deserved time off for the next several weeks before preparing to move up to the 12U Division this fall.
