The Mize High School Baseball team will host a military appreciation tournament at Mize High School on April 2nd, 2016. The first pitch will be thrown out by retired Col. John W. Logan of Prentiss, MS at 10:55 am. The team will be wearing (one time only) Camo jerseys that will be auctioned off via a silent auction during the came. 100% of the auction proceeds as well as the donation box from the concession orders will be given to Wounded Warrior of Mississippi. President of the organization, Cheryl Bruce, will be on hand to receive the contribution. Mize Baseball partnered with Eagle Green Energy and , together, will award a paid vacation to Montana for a trout fishing excursion on the Yellowstone River, a free cabin, free meals, transportation to and from the airport and for the duration of the stay, free fishing tackle rental, and free licensing documents to fish for one veteran and a guest who will be present at the first game that day. The vacation and recognition will be awarded at 10:50am (just prior to the start of game 1). The United Blood Services truck will be on hand that day to hold a blood drive. Preregistration is encouraged by contacting either Mize High School at (601) 733-2242 or UBS. Crawfish plates are on sale now and can be picked up at the game. You do not have to pay to get into the game just to pick up your crawfish plates. Contact Mize High School and speak to Coach Adam Dyess to place a crawfish order between now and March 28th. The plates are $13 for one, 2 plates for $24, or 3 plates for $32. If you did not pre-order a plate, crawfish will be sold as individual plates at the game for $15, while it lasts. Each plate holds approximately 2lbs. For desert, enjoy a Kona Ice snow-cone at the game as you support our veterans, service members and ball club.
The schedule for the day: Mize vs Mendenhall at 11AM, Mendenhall vs Salem at 1:30PM, and Mize vs Salem at 3:45PM. All veterans and active service members will be recognized at the game and be allowed free entry to the game with a military ID (no dependent IDs please).
