To the citizens of Simpson county. I apologize for delay in garbage pickup. But due to misfortune beyond our control we are short of trucks. It takes 4 trucks to run the routes 4 days a week 10 hours a days. We only have 2 that are functional. One truck was already in shop getting heads reworked when Friday a week ago 2 trucks sitting in yard at transfer station got struck by lightning. This burnt up thousands of dollars in electronics on the trucks. We are working with dealer and insurance to get repairs done. We have also ask adjoining counties to loan a truck. No word on that yet. We also searched for rentals. But none available. As for as the future we do have 2 new units on order but there is a 3 to 6 months delivery time on them. We are working on a plan to purchase 2 new trucks every 2 years and rotate them out. With that said in a act of nature such as the one that occurred here even with new trucks we still we be in a bin. I’m asking for your patience. I know as citizens of the county you deserve better service and myself and the other board members are trying to improve it. It’s just hard times in government and in the economy. Please if I can answer any questions call me. 601-382-8262 . Please share this so as many people as possible will know. Once again thanks.
