WASHINGTON, D.C. – U.S. Senator Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.) today issued a 2024 Christmas message that encourages Mississippians to “celebrate love, joy, and peace, and reflect on the many blessings in our lives,” including the sacrifices of our service members, first responders, and healthcare workers.

“While the world deals with turmoil and conflict, this season calls us to love our neighbors, care for those in need, and approach life with a spirit of generosity.  Our mission should be to serve those who need our help the most – through acts of kindness or simply offering a listening ear.  We all have the power to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us,” Hyde-Smith said.

Hyde-Smith’s full Christmas message is available below:

Merry Christmas, Mississippi!

May we hold fast to the true spirit of this holiday season, taking time to celebrate love, joy, and peace, and reflect on the many blessings in our lives.

As Christians, we honor the birth of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  His life and teachings inspire us to live gracefully, move with compassion, and love one another.

As we celebrate, let us remember that this season is truly about peace – peace in our homes, in our communities, and in our hearts.

While the world deals with turmoil and conflict, this season calls us to love our neighbors, care for those in need, and approach life with a spirit of generosity.  Our mission should be to serve those who need our help the most – through acts of kindness or simply offering a listening ear.  We all have the power to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those around us.

This season, I also thank our servicemembers, many of whom are far from home and separated from loved ones as they defend our freedoms.

I share the same gratitude for our first responders and healthcare workers who continue to serve tirelessly.  Their commitment to keeping us safe every single day is a gift to us all.

My wish for all Mississippians is that your Christmas be filled with warmth, joy, and the love of those around you.  May we all carry the message of peace and love with us throughout the new year.

From my family to yours, Merry Christmas and happy holidays.  May God continue to bless you with peace, happiness, and abundant blessings this holiday season and in the year ahead.
