Mendenhall Junior High Ranked the 13th Most Improved Middle School in Mississippi for the 2014 – 2015 School Year

mendenhallmascot

According to the website SchoolDigger.com, Mendenhall Junior High ranked as the 13th most improved middle school in the state of Mississippi. During this past year, we climbed above 70 other schools to rank 93rd out of 270 middle schools. This is the second year in a row that we have improved our ranking according to data on the website.

SchoolDigger collects information from over 130,000 schools across America and analyzes it so parents can make informed decisions about which school to send their child. According to their website, their core mission “is to make SchoolDigger.com the easiest, most useful school search and comparison site on the Web.”

In 2013, I applied for principal because I thought I could make a difference in my community. I firmly believe that for this season, this is where the Lord has placed me and with Christ’s grace and direction, we have seen great things happen in our school. My credit to our success goes to His Lordship and direction in my life. I have been blessed to have the opportunity to work with one of the best teaching staffs in the state with over 60% of our faculty members either having or currently being enrolled in school to attained advanced degrees in education. As I walk up and down the halls of Mendenhall, it is evident they genuinely care about our students’ future. We have invested thousands of dollars in time and money providing our staff with professional development, tools, and strategies to ensure our children are ready to enter High School.

During the three years that I’ve been principal, I have constantly encouraged our students and staff to be better today than yesterday and we have seen massive improvements in both. Our students are improving academically as our teachers provide them with an enriching and challenging curriculum. At the end of the day, our goal is for each student to be on grade-level and prepared for High School when they leave the 8th grade.

As we enter the last leg of the 2015 – 2016 race, stay informed by downloading the SchoolWay App and connect to Mendenhall Junior High. We will post weekly updates leading up to and through testing (get more information at https://mendjr.simpson.k12.ms.us). Encourage your child to give their best, and together, we can work to make Mendenhall one of the top 50 middle-schools in the state of Mississippi. We have a lot of great things and great people at Mendenhall Junior High. Let us make it even better!

Sincerely,

Kirby Craft, Principal
