Mendenhall High School Seniors Class of 2021 walked across the field Thursday evening May 27, 2021 to receive their diplomas and become graduates.
The students marched in a single file line around the track to the class song “I’ll always remember you.”
Graduates entered the field to their prospected places to the music of “Pomp and Circumstance.”
The invocation was given by Class Historian Re’Kyia Lott.
Romonica Feazell, Principal at Mendenhall High School, welcome everyone and reflected back on the Class of 2021. Ms Feazell recognized all distinguished guest present for the event.
Class Salutatorian William Rankin gave his Salutatorian address.
Katheryn Brewer delivered the Valedictorian address. Brewer advised her classmates to be “the light in the darkness.”
Simpson County School Board President Danny Cowart spoke on behalf of the School Board on the accomplishment the graduates had achieved.
Dr. Tarance Hart Presented the Class of 2021.
Mendenhall High School Counselor Andrea Shivers certified the Class of 2021 had met all requirements to become graduates.
Ms. Feazell, Mr. Aaron Wiliams, Dr. Hart, and Mrs. Fonda Dickinson presented diplomas to the graduates.
The Class of 2021 suffered the tragic loss of 3 class members. The memory of the class mates will be forever remembered. The parents of each deceased graduate were given honorary diplomas in their honor. Damior Ford, Eric McKenney, and Briceyah Mills.
Karli Welch lead the Class of 2021 in moving of the Tassel.
Vontrel Johnson lead in the benediction.
Graduates exited the field in two lines to the music of “Congratulations” and gathered in the end zone for the traditional tossing of the caps.
Class color chosen is blue. The class flower is a white rose. The Class Motto is “A thousand words won’t bring you back. I know because I’ve tried; neither will a thousand tears, I know because I’ve cried.”
