Rain did not spoil graduation for Mendenhall. The weather forced graduation festivities to take place in the gymnasium limiting the number of guest that could attend.
Mendenhall High School Class of 2022 with 122 graduates made their last appearance as a group for Commencement Celebration Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at 8:00 p.m. in the evening. Pre recorded music of “Rise Up” by Andra Day was provided.
Seniors entered from the east side of the gym in a single file line to their designated seats on the gym floor. Mendenhall High School Band provided recorded music to “Pomp and Circumstance” and the National Anthem. Members of the Student Council served as ushers.
Nigel Caesar served as Class Historian and led in the Invocation. Romonica Feazell, Principal at Mendenhall High School, welcomed everyone. Harleigh Abernathy delivered the Salutatory address. Raegan Bramlett served as Class Valedictorian and delivered the Valedictory address.
Keynote speaker was Dr. Clarke Allen a former graduated of Mendenhall High School.
Jammal Banks, Mendenhall High School Assistant Principal, presented the Class of 2022. High School Counselor Andrea Shivers verified all graduates had met requirements for graduation. Romonica Feazell, Jammal Banks, Aaron Williams, and Fonda Dickinson presented Diplomas to the graduates.
Rayleigh Loyd, Mendenhall graduate, ordered graduates to turn their tassels. Ian Batton, Mendenhall graduate, led in the benediction.
Due to weather and location of ceremony. Graduates did not exit to the recessional. Graduates tossed hats from their seated location and festivities were considered complete.
The Class of 2022 choose yellow and grey as their class colors and rose as their class flower. Class Motto was “The Future Belongs to Those Who Believe in the Beauty of Their Dream” – Elenor Roosevelt.
Valedictorian was Raegan Bramlett, Salutatorian was Harleigh Abernathy, and Historian was Nigel Caesar. Students selected for Hall of Fame were Harleigh Abernathy, Raegan Bramlett, Nigel Caesar, Griffin Humphrey, and Jakeria Sorrell.
