According to Simpson County Sheriff Paul Mullins, Mendenhall Elementary School is not on lockdown. A noise that sounded like a gun shot was heard in front of the building calling for the short lock down. The noise was actually a car that backfired.
Everything is fine at the Mendenhall Schools.
