Friends and family of Mell Ann Scarborugh were shattered Thursday morning learning of her sudden and untimely death. Anyone who knew Mell Ann was soon their forever friend. She had a contagious smile and a ringing laughter. When you saw Mell Ann, you smiled!
I believer Mell Ann is the first Nurse Practitioner I knew! We were not childhood friends. Mell Ann and I became friends through our years at Simpson Academy. She was always in the middle of things, taking care of everyone, and cheering for her Cougars. She was the type of person once you met her, you were her friend! Our friendship continued after my SCA years.
Mell Ann was just about everyone’s go to for medical advicer. She unwaveringly listened to all our problems!
Several years ago, Mell Ann monogrammed a beautiful towel for me as a surprise gift. Every time I see that towel, I see Mell Ann’s smiling face.
Mell Ann’s death reminds us of how fragile life is. One is here one minute and gone the next. If you are like me, I immediately think of all the people I have not told I love them. The people I have not said thank you for being my friend. The people who made a difference in my life. Here’s our chance…take time to embrace others.
