The City of Magee is fortunate to have Duane Simmons serving as its Building Inspector—a role that comes with many responsibilities. Duane works closely with Zoning Inspector Penny Aguire and Fire Chief David Craft to ensure safety and compliance throughout the city.

“People just don’t realize they need a permit to work on or in their house,” Duane explained. Whether it’s installing a new roof, HVAC system, or even a fence—call Duane.

“The permits are not meant to be a punishment,” he emphasized. “They are a way to make things safer and protect the public.”

Even tree removal in Magee requires a bonded company, a policy in place to safeguard homeowners. “The bond protects the consumer,” Duane added.

Known for his thoroughness and dedication, Duane has been described as “the bulldog”—a testament to his fearless and determined approach.

“I feel a responsibility to every citizen,” Simmons shared. “I want the people of Magee to be protected.”

Take a few minutes to watch the interview video—you just might learn something valuable, too.
